Why is my hair so dry?

Understanding why your hair is dry can help to determine how best to treat it. There are many causes of dry hair, including:

  • Environmental factors – Both hot and cold climates can put a strain on your hair by stripping away natural moisture, which can lead to unwanted damage.
  • Hair products – Hair products with high chemical contents can cause dryness and breakage instead of replenishing and nourishing the hair.
  • Over-styling – Excessive heat usage can remove the natural hydration from strands and create a dry, frazzled look.
  • Hair dye – Dyeing or bleaching hair alters the natural structure of strands, weakening and breaking the pigment. Hair is left with a dry, damaged appearance and texture.

How to moisturise dry hair

Now you know some of the causes of dry hair, it’s time to explore the best treatments to transform lifeless locks into smooth and supple strands.

Use a hydrating shampoo

A harsh shampoo with high chemical levels will only strip hair of any remaining moisture. Instead, opt for a deeply nourishing natural shampoo that replenishes lost hydration for healthier, more supple locks.

Our Hydrating Shampoo uses a natural formula free from sulphates, silicones, and harsh chemicals to avoid drying out your hair and scalp. Infused with moisturising Shea Butter and Coconut Extract, this dry hair shampoo helps to nourish your scalp while repairing damaged hair.

Pair with a hydrating conditioner

A nourishing natural conditioner is the key to adding moisture and shine to your hair. For the ultimate silky-smooth look, follow your shampoo with our Hydrating Conditioner.

With an all-natural formula, our conditioner is rich in Shea Butter, Coconut, and Sesame Oils to help further nourish and strengthen dry hair. Olive Oil and Vitamin E help to add lustre to dull hair while reducing frizz for deeply hydrated, soft, and more manageable locks.

Avoid over-washing

The idea of washing hair often to keep it moisturised is a huge misconception. If you wash it too often, it can actually strip away your hair’s natural oils, leaving it brittle and dry. We recommend washing every 2-4 days to allow natural oils to regenerate and work their magic.

Every 2-4 days, wet hair and massage our Hydrating Shampoo into the scalp to form a gentle lather. Rinse thoroughly and follow with our Hydrating Conditioner, focusing specifically on the ends.

Try a dry hair treatment

When strands feel especially dehydrated, a dry hair treatment is just what you need.

We recommend our Replenishing Hydrating Hair Masque to deeply hydrate and replenish dry hair. A nourishing blend of Shea and Cocoa Butters, Coconut Oil, and Vitamin E leaves thirsty hair quenched and softer than ever.

This hair mask for dry hair can be used:

  • As a mask: After shampoo, apply to damp hair, wait 1 minute, then rinse.
  • As a leave-in dry hair treatment: Lightly apply to damp hair for added hydration.
  • As a conditioner: After shampoo, apply to hair, then rinse.

You can also apply our Hydrating Treatment Hair Oil to damp or dry hair to revitalise dullness and frizz. A nourishing concentration of Argan, Olive, and Jojoba Oils helps to restore natural shine while promoting strength and moisture.

Avoid excessive heat and colouring

Both unnecessary heat and hair dye can cause unwanted damage to hair, leaving it dry and brittle. Where possible, avoid over-styling and colouring hair to keep it natural and healthy.

If you must, use a heat protector spray or a specially designed dye that softens and smooths hair.

If you are trying a product or ingredient for the first time, we always recommend a patch test first.
